What are Health Projects?

Health Projects is one of the most diverse departments in our agency. We cover a variety of topics including diabetes prevention, opioid addiction, minority health projects and efforts to teach people how to live healthier lives. We would love to tell you more about our program. Please explore our current projects and feel free to reach out if you'd like more information.    Fernando Sanchez Health Projects Manager fsanchez@cdhd.ne.gov

Healthy Smiles

Healthy Smiles is a program that provides preventative dental care to children in the Central District. This program does NOT replace your child’s regular dental visits. It is an additional benefit to prevent dental decay. Based on your need, this program can provide Fluoride Varnish or Dental Sealant treatments. For more information on the Healthy Smiles program please call (308) 385-5175.

Minority Health Initiative

The Minority Health Initiative (MHI) Program is dedicated to improving health outcomes and providing health education to everyone in the Central District, regardless of their background or language. MHI focuses on culturally appropriate health education and outreach in our community.

Opioid & Overdose Prevention

The overdose crisis has evolved over time and is now largely characterized by deaths involving illicitly manufactured synthetic opioids such as fentanyl. As the overdose crisis continues to change, we must take a pragmatic approach to saving lives. The overdose crisis is national, but the impact is personal and touches many in Hall, Hamilton and Merrick Counties. Below are some resources on where you can find additional information and resources.
